He earned his undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology at the University of Florida, followed by his Doctor of Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

After graduating from medical school, Dr. Makar completed his Neurology residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine–Jacksonville. He then pursued a specialized fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at Stanford University Medical Center, honing his expertise in both primary and metastatic neurological cancers.
